Thread: HP p4015 Laserjet....41.2 error

    Question HP p4015 Laserjet....41.2 error

This unit prints a few pages before this error appears. I am using a brand new tray..I have replaced the size sensor unit, the DC controller. Any ideas ??:

If you print a configuration page from the information menu, what size paper is listed at the bottom right for tray 2?

First thing I would do if that has the correct size listed is run a 10 page paper path test from tray 1. If it does not jam I would set tray 2 to 'ANY' size and then try a 10 page paper path test from tray 2. If that works, I would suspect something is wrong with the sensor that is behind the paper feed roller assembly.

    Unhappy 41.3 error

Tray1 & 2 are set to "any" size..Did as you suggested..No problem from tray 1..Then from tray 2..It prints 6 copies then stops with the "size mismatch" error followed by "41.3 unexpected size in tray 2" message.

Is there anything abnormal with the paper that is in the printer when it jams? Such as two pieces stuck together (but not perfectly) so that they overlap and make it seem as if a piece longer than 11" is running thru it? I've only run into this specific problem one time out of hundreds of that model in our area, but about a year I saw one that was multifeeding about once out of every 50 pages. The gear that drives the seperation roller was cracked and the gear was recessed so far into the printer that it wasn't even contacting the gear in the paper tray that drives the sep roller.

Pull the paper tray all the way out of the printer. At the front on the right hand side you should see a small white plastic gear, maybe 3/4 inch in diameter. Make sure that gear is not cracked or broken. If there is nothing wrong with it, I would suspect that the sensor behind the paper feed assembly is sticking.

Also......There is no paper jam..The print cycle is completed and the page is fed right through before the error is displayed..Thanks for your help..

    Some Questions:
How many pages has this unit printed? If the pickup roller is worn or dirty the paper may be just a bit slow getting past or to a sensor.
    Is the machine dusty?
If the paper in tray 2 is set a little too tight on the sides or ends it can cause problems like this but consistent 6 pages would be unlikely.
    Any change in paper stock?
    How do you recover?
Have you done a cold reset?
Did this problem begin occuring suddenly?

No. The gear that drives the sep roller that is inside the paper cassette tray. If you take the tray all the way out of the printer there is a gear on the side of it. When you spin that gear the sep roller should spin. The gear that I am talking about is inside the printer itself and meets up with that gear when you slide the tray in.
