HP Laserjet 4100n "Bad Env Feeder Connection

This is the error that comes up with my Printer. The funny thing is that I don't have an Envelope feeder on the printer. I have googled my problem and can't really see anything that will help. The error comes up first when you turn the printer on. On the front left of the printer where the envelope feeder goes in, there is a small electrical connection, I assume the envelope feeder is powered or reads via this to the printer, I am hoping this could be faulty but I'm really guessing there...

Any ideas where I should start looking? A long shot but hey...

Edit : I have tried cold booting the printer but it did not work. Can I update the firmware on these printers too?

That error says that your envelope feeder is bad. Since you don't have one of those and the envelope sensors are in the envelope feeder, I would try the Engine Controller Board - C8049-69003 and the envelope feeder connect cable - RG5-5344-000CN.
There is also an Envelope Feeder Driver Board. I couldn't find a part number. It may be incorporated in the Engine Control Board.

Thanks I will find those items you suggested in the printer first, can I get the Engine Controller Board tested?
Also it will not print, this error comes up when I turn it on and won't go any further.

The Engine Controller board for this model is not the most stable, so it's a good place to start ... there is no way to "test" the board, so the only way to know if it's causing the problem would be to swap another board in and see if the error goes away with a fresh board ...

Swapping this assembly is not the easiest part to change out -- depending on how comfortable you are with assembly/disassembly, you may or may not want to do the swap yourself ...

Thanks steve, I don't mind pulling it apart, but I will find out from a local first how much a ECB will be before I make the decision to go further.
