Double check the printer, is it still a LJ5?

The only colour that a LJ5 prints is black.

you really should just put it on a back shelf far away from you. that unit has had it's day, and if you want to beat a dead horse, it'll cost you more than a NEW color unit. Parts are VERY hard to come by, at a reasonable price, so move on up to the new generation! Give up an error code if you can get one, I still have a service manual. Lots a luck, M.

Yeah, the color Laserjet 5 is a boat anchor
but the back and white laserjet 5 is a great printer.
