    Default Printer HP LJ51000 error

    Printer was working ok - turned on one day and only thing is displayed is astorisks across screen - reset nic and pcb - is this a formatter board error?

    Yes, it is very likely that you've got a formatter board failure.

    You can try removing the NIC and all extra memory from the formatter before replacing it. Sometimes bad memory or JetDirects can give you this kind of problem.

    Tried the formatter board - worked fine - Thanks. Initially I tried reseating the nic to no avail.
