    Default HP2200 - printer defect - unusual

Hi I have a client with a HP2200 - the fuser was replaced recently as part of a maintance kit. Fuser is an HP OEM fuser.

The printer is producing a repetetitive defect every 94mm which would suggest a faulty toner. The client has replaced the toner 3 times, with genuine HP toners. Problem keeps on reoccurring. Client has informed that they clean excess toner of toner cartridge and problem goes away for a while.

The defect takes the form of a horizontal smudge of toner specks about 4mm x 150mm wide repeated every 94mm.

The client says there is no toner spill in printer.

    Any ideas??
    cheers

Since I don't have a 2200 manual in front of me, I'll trust your findings that it's the toner cartridge.
I maintain the printers at the County of Sacramento buildings. A few times I have run across an entire case of bad toner cartridges.
I would try to find another 2200 to swap cartridges with.
    It will drive u crazy.

I agree with Redcow, I think you should replace the toner cartridge.

If you see any toner on the drum, then the cleaner wiper is faulty.

Is this a refilled toner if so replace it.

Talk to your toner cartridge refiller if they wont help then switch suppliers because I have had a simular problem before, I had a refund after a month of negotiation and i did a test on the toner of black bars on the toner after returning it a second time and he was compelled to return the money in case i went to a cosumer affairs office.

thats my suggestion if the supplier wont negotiate with you then report him to a cosumer affairs or if you can talk to a attorney / lawyer only do this if it has damaged the printer.

Sometimes if you use the wrong toner it can damage the fuser.

If any of those suggestions dont work or it came to not being the toner which it sounds like it doesnt, i would then look at the dirty mirror inside the scanning unit and it needs a clean.

because a dirty mirror could cause these problems.

Thanks, I will try cleaning the mirror. As three genuine HP toners have already been tried in this machine. I will keep you posted as to progress.

    Default JJprinter

It could be a bad batch of toner
but I would also look into the metal contacts inside the printer where the cartridge sits they may be faulty and stop contact long enough to cause the toner build up on drum.
Also check the fuser again I have seen new kits have defects as well.

Not a tech I just work with them as manager.I hear a lot

    good luck
