Default HP 4250 loosing network connection

I have an HP 4250n set up as network printer. It will lose connection with the network constantly. I turn it off and back on and it will process the print job. Sometimes it will work fine all day, sometimes it will drop connection every five minutes.
Turning off and on generally works every time but is a pain.

    Any suggestions

Sounds like the onboard Ethernet connection is starting to fail. That is part of the formatter which is the main system board. You could order another formatter board, here's a link.

However, the cheapest option is to add a second Ethernet port to your printer by installing a JetDirect card into one of the available EIO slots (EIO slots are located on the metal cage of the formatter at the rear of the machine, 2 slots covered with metal plates). You can install a JetDirect card and then just make a note not to use the onboard Ethernet port in the future.
Here is a link to the best JetDirect card for that model: https://www.printertechs.com/shop/jetdirectj7934
