Received 51.2Y error on HP 5500 Color Laserjet - 51.2Y along with a grinding noise

Replaced laser scanner assembly - still received the 51.2Y error but no longer get the grinding noise

swapped the laser scanner assembly with the one below - still received the 51.2Y error and no grinding noise.

What else can I do to troubleshoot?

That error code is pretty specific, something is wrong with the Yellow laser scanner error. Either you are not replacing the correct laser scanner or there is a problem with the ones you are installing. There are a total 4 of scanners in the machine, the Yellow laser scanner would be the 3rd scanner from the top. If you're not purchasing from a reputable dealer try PrinterTechs. We have installation instructions on our Web site; follow those to a T. Also make sure you are ordering the correct part; there are 2 very similar models and you need to order the correct one for your machine (LaserJet 5500 versus LaserJet 5550).
