Thread: HP Designjet 500 carriage assy part

Default HP Designjet 500 carriage assy part

I looked at one of these the other day and the little latch that helps lock down the big latch for the inkheads was broken on 1 side. Luckily the customer found the part when it broke off- 1 of the legs/pins that holds it in place broke off.

After looking at the service and parts book, as far as I can tell, this only comes with the carriage assembly.

It's sort of shaped like a paper clip/stretched horseshoe shape.

just checking to see if that is even available.

    thanks.

If it is a plastic part I have had some success with Gorilla glue. Most of those kinds of plastic will not work with plumbing glue. We used to get a lot of HP 4000 printers and some HP2300's with broken plastic frames. The Gorilla glue seemed to work fine. I let the part sit for a day or two until the glue developed full strength. Those printers were subsequently sent out several times and the repaired frames were still intact. I have not seen a 500 in many years so I am just guessing here.
Let us know what you find.
