Grinding Noise.

There is a loud banging grinding noise coming from the back of HP Laserjet M3035xs printer when it start and prints. Can anybody help with any ideas.

This series uses a lot of plastic gears and bushings. Most likely is the fuser bushings. Thr grinding noise is often the plastic gears on the bulkhead that drive the fuser. The final gear is usually the culprit, it gets worn and some fuser powder gets in between the gear and the shaft and causes a jerking motion and growling noise. What is the page count? Do you have a sister machine you can swap parts with? If this printer has a swing plate that can also be your problem. The swing plate reverses paper flow when printing duplex. Do you have a manual? If not you can probably find a free download on the Internet.

Big Al is right, replace the fuser and also there is a set of drive gears to replace.

When working for HP, they would ship gear (that is labeled "4") with every p3005 fuser.
That gear and the fuser cleared up all grinding noises.

I replaced the fuser and all 4 of the gears back in January after our P3005 printer developed the grinding noise around 77k pages. That worked like a charm, but a little over 2 months and just under 200 pages later it is occasionally grinding again.

Any suggestions on what to do next?

I would remove the fuser and reseat it, make sure the fuser is seated properly and screwed in tightly... you can also remove the fuser and check the gear side of the fuser for wear, specifically the pressure roller gear (largest gear on the fuser) should show some shavings underneath if it is already starting to wear.
