    Exclamation LJ 5Si Jetdirect Reset

I have a Laserjet 5Si. It gives an IP address of 10.36.16.62
I need to have the printer obtain its IP address from my router which auto distributes IP's
can I set the Jetdirect card to accept this. At present the IP address is not visible from my system.
I have tried cold booting the printer and restoring factory defaults. I have tried holding in the test button whilst booting on the jetdirect card.
    Any advis appreciated.
I am using win XP pro's built in drivers
    Thanks

    Default

On the printer's control panel go to the MIO menu, set configure network to YES, and go through the sub-menu, configure TCP-IP=YES and change the BOOTP = YES. If BOOTP = NO then the JetDirect has a static IP.

BTW in most situations you are better to have a static IP on a printer, or make sure your DHCP server has the ability to give the same IP to that printer every time. If it changes you can't print until you reconfigure the TCP-IP port on your computer to point to the new IP.
