Default What laser printer is recommended for Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10?

I would ideally like it to plug in and automatically work like my Samsung ML-2010 that seems to have died. I use 8.04 now but it would be good if it also worked with 8.10.

Live in Australia and don't want to pay more than $200 Australian.

Brother 2140 has been recommended by a few even though it rates as "mostly compatible" rather than "perfectly compatible".

Would like it to have toner cartridges that are reasonably priced and be easy to unjam and hopefully not jam very much. Quality of print and speed of lesser importance, especially since I'm no a budget.

    Thanks.

At work we use all HP printers and have no problems printing to any of them from many flavors of Linux, including Ubuntu. We install HPLIP and the printers are basically plug and play. It is easier to install a printer on a Linux box running HPLIP than on windows because HPLIP detects the printer and then downloads and install the appropriate driver for it. The current version of HPLIP supports 1,686 different HP printers.
