Why do I print off a blank page?

I'm trying to network my g/fs, and her sisters notebooks to their dads printer. I have the printer shared, and will print test pages on both laptops, but when i type something in Word it prints blank pages. Do I need to install the printer drivers for the laptops? Because i thought once the printer is shared you can just add it through the printer wizard. Thanks for any help.

Also I was wondering ever since i've been messing with the printer, everytime their dad starts his computer some printer installation starts, no matter what, ever reboot, shut off, it comes up everytime. Thanks again

It sounds like you are doing everything right. When you add the printer on the notebooks, ensure the printer is set to default, and load the printer drivers to the laptop. Check the printer settings in Word to ensure the correct printer is selected.
