We just posted instructions for installing an HP Laserjet P3005 maintenance kit.

This is not the easiest printer to service but not worst either. The P3005 is not considered a user serviceable printer, hence ease of replacing the fuser, rollers, and separation pads was not a high priority for HP in this model.
Unfortunately many people have purchased this printer as a workhorse but it isn't, they should be using a 4000 series. Also this printer has a history failing formatter boards. This is why we don't refurbish and sell this printer, only parts for it. A better option would be a laserjet 2400 series or 4000 series.
I suspect people buy a printer and partially make a purchasing decision based on the monthly duty cycle that HP often lists in a printer's specs. HP gives the P3005 a 100,000 page monthly duty cycle. HA! You would destroy that printer if you tried printing that much in one month! But now HP seems to be backing off the useless "monthly duty cycle" spec and lists a "Recommended monthly print volume", which in the case of the P3005 is 1,500 to 5,000 pages. This is much more realistic. I'd top it out at about 3,500 pages per month for the P3005. Anything higher and you'd want to get a 4000 series printer.
