HP Laserjet 4000dn

The printer has been sitting for a long time. However it came up and printed documents with a line across the page about 4 inches apart. I bought a new cartridge.

I removed the fuser to see if there was any visible damage to it. It looked okay.

I put the fuser back in and the new cartridge.

My problem:

The printer powers on and the "Initializing" comes up, then up again and up again. I put the old cartridge back in and it does the same thing.

Why does it continue to cyle through "Initializing"

Try pulling the jetdirect card out and see if it passes the initializing stage!

Thanks David for your response. I tried it and the printer does the same thing. I placed the fuser in another printer and it worked. I'm still looking for suggestions.

I could use a "service manual".
