LJ 2420dn slow printing

On sending a test page to the printer the display shows "data received" and "processing job" four times before it will print.

Notepad, word and excel docs will print straight away. Web pages and powerpoint docs go through the four times routine before printing.

I have tried pcl5 and 6 drivers, and plugged the usb cable into different ports on the pc. I haven't tried changing the usb cable yet.

Any ideas?

Did you resolve this issue? I am having the same problem. HP2420dn connected via USB to a workstation running Windows XP Pro. Even windows test page takes several minutes to print - printer shows data received, then processing job, and back to data received and repeats. Takes several cycles and then job finally prints. This is a new install and no special configurations are in place. Thanks.

If you have a jetdirect card inside the printer remove it, and do cold rest by pressing down the tick button, this will restore the printer to factory settings.

Reinstall the jetdirect and try it again, if all else fails reinstall the driver.
