Ok... I've performed the printer maintenance but the machine still reads to perform printer maintenance. I have been all over the internet trying to figure this out. We do not have an Item/Value key on our system. It was then suggested to go to Select and Cancel Job. We don't have those keys, either! What is up with our 4100?? Can anybody help and give me the steps? We need to reset the maintenance number and get that dang message to go away! Much appreciation - D

Are you sure you've got a HP LJ 4100? or might it be a 4100 MFP?

Hi, Brian - I believe it to be a 4100 - what is the difference between the two? I am almost 99% certain it is a 4100 - I can double check when I go into work today.

Hi, Brian - here at work and it is indeed a 4100mfp (which stands for something I can't print) :) Awaiting your reply as the dang "Perform Printer Maintenance" message is still alive and well! Thanks - Debbie

Brian - I found an old post from you to Hotchick and it helped me reset my printer. I am so grateful to have found you and this site - thank you soooo much! Debbie xoxoxoxo

Go to configuration menu drill down to maintenance message and turn it off.
