laserjet 3150 'no dial tone'

hi..
i have a hp laserjet 3150 that will not send faxes. On power up and service test it comes up with 'no dial tone' on display. the phone line and cable works fine. i have fitted a new modem into printer but hasnt cured the fault. are there any resets i have to perform that can clear this error or is the main controller board faulty.
i hope someone is able to help. thank you for your time :)

Did you make sure that the phone cord was in the "line"slot instead of the "phone" slot?

thx for your help strider but i take it you havent worked on this model printer. There is only one connector on back and 'yes' im sure its the right one.
i was hoping for some technical support not the dummies guide to printer repairs.

sorry to be so abrupt. i was just expecting a tech forum to be slightly more technical. as ive been a printer engineer for 10 yrs i know about checking all the basics first. i have done all the normal checks (phone line, connections etc) and i have fitted a new modem into the printer without success.
Can anyone please help :confused:
