HP Laserjet 4 Smearing

The machine will smear and jam on card stock. Print looks fine on normal but will smear and shadow on card stock. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Robin,
Sounds like your fuser isnt fusing. The fuser section should get real warm, if it isnt, then you need to replace it.

If you can print on standard paper but not card stock, you might be printing on stock that is too thick for the printer to fuse properly. Toner is fused to paper with a combination of heat and pressure, melting the toner into the paper. Your fuser might be worn out but you might also be using stock that's too thick for the printer.
