Menu Locked

I have a HP 4M+. The menu was reset. I have been trying to change my settings such as paper size but when I select something other then the default item with the * I receive the MENU LOCKED message after I hit enter on the display. How do I unlock the menu settings so that I can personalize my sttings?

hi...
when ever a user tries to alter the printer control panel settings without knowing the password the message 'menu locked' will show..
to clear this message u have to perform a 'cold reset'.
turn off the printer and turn back on with the on-line key held down.
'cold reset' will be displayed and when it goes to 00 ready.. the printer is ready to use again.

you might want to pull the interface card out first, if the printer is on the network.
