HP Laserjet 5si

I have been trying to get this printer to work for some time. I bought it used. However, I"m able to print test pages, etc.

I am trying to set it up to my router via an ethernet cable.
I am able to ping the IP address that I assigned on the printer from my computer.

Do you think the network card is not working? Would I be able to ping the printer if the NC was out??

I get an error message when I print.
I have tried the HP tools, etc but they are confusing.

Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

First, check driver: P\S or PCL?
Config page print with I\O info?
Application using correct driver?
Error? Ya gots to give it up cause it is the absolute basis of your problem!
