I was just moved into an office that has many unlabled printer cartridges, and I'm new to printers....so I have no idea which cartridge model goes with what printer. Does anybody have a website of printer cartridges vs. HP Models? I'm also posting this in 'consumables' because I'm not quite sure where it should go...

Okay, I found a website and got information about all the cartridges and models that I work with. Now...what I do not know from experience yet...what models of cartridges are backwards/forwards compatible with printers other than their own? I.E. is a C4127 for an LJ4000/4050 usable in an LJ 4300? How about a C4096 for a LJ2100/2200 in a 2300 or a 2420? I'm new to this...any input would be appreciated.

Ken,
Usually the cartridges for HP printers are not interchangeable, there are a few exceptions, the cartridges for the Laserjet 4 1nd 5 are the same, the cartridge for a 4100 does fit in a 4000 (but the one for a 4000 doesn't go in a 4100).
The cartridge for the 4300 doesn't fit in a 4100 or 4000.
