I recently installed a refurb fuser kit, it will print fine on plain paper but not on a slightly rough letterhead. I returned the fuser for another refurb with the same result. I then replaced the old fuser (original) but the problem still persists even though it wasn't there originally. HP suggest that the model allowed fuser temp adjustment through the paper handling menu but I couldn't find any settings there or in the sevice mode.
Can anyone help??

Your problem's with the letterhead paper. Sounds like the fuser is pulling the letterhead toner off and reprinting it.
See if the same letter head paper fed into another 8000 does the same thing.
I just had a similar problem on an 8000. The site printed up their own letterhead on cheap paper. When they used that paper to print their documents, the letter head was picked up by the fuser and tracked down the page.
When we printed the letterhead on good bond paper everything worked fine.

The customer has a HP 4000 which uses the same letterhead without a problem. I'll see if I can find another 8000.

Cammac,
The fuser temperature adjustment you talked about can be done by choosing another paper media type in the menu.

I'll give that a go & let you know what happens.

Don't forget to release the tension on the fuser when you install it...One on each side. Anything thicker than copy paper will come out smugging.

Thnaks for the advise. That's all it was. It started printing fine once I re-positioned the levers.
Thanks again.
