Hi, I'm a tech working on a Laserjet 5, I shouldn't have taken this job, I'm clueless when it comes to any printer thats not a lexmark.

Anyways, the first day I got there, the paper would print fine, but it wouldn't come all the way out of the feeder, it would be like 2 inches from coming out, leaving these curls at the bottom because you'd have to pull it out.

So I ordered a maintanance kit, replaced the fuser, 4-5 other parts on it, and now when It tries to print, the paper gets completly stuck in the fuser, it won't even come out and its extremely difficult to pull out (not to mention embarrising)

In a despiration act I ordered another fuser, told them it was broken, which is possible, but I have a fealing its something else. I have to back tomarrow morning, which could be a dissaster if this new fuser doesn't fix the problem.

Help a brother out.

Hi,
The first problem you talk about can be cured by replacing a few parts in the paper delivery assembly;
RF5-1076-020; Upper delivery roller.
RF5-1077-030; Lower delivery roller.
RF5-0425-040; Roller, holder (4x).
Replacing these always does the trick for me as far as harmonicas from the paper delivery assembly is concerned.
But now you also talk about the paper getting stuck in the fuser, if the new fuser doesn't do the trick, you might need to replace the drum drive assembly (RG5-0876-060)
Good luck,
Brian

You are a god. Thank you. Is there any manuals as far as the Rollers go?

Thanks again.

Also- Is there anything I should look for on those parts to signal that they need replacing(and if I could do anything there to fix them atleast temporarily, I've already been to the site three times, they're getting impatient)?, like I said, I've only worked on Lexmark, and only a reasonable amount there, living in a small town here with no major businesses I usually don't get any calls more difficult than replacing a maintance kit.

Here http://www.printertechs.com/tech/assemblies/ex/1ex-output.php you can see how you can remove the deliver assembly, it's for a HP 4 but it's practicaly the same.
Removing the rollers it pretty straight forward after that, the are held in place by a washer spring.
You can often see if the upper delivery roller needs replacing, it gets hard and slippery, using rubber rejuvinator on these rollers doesn't really help, they'll need replacing.

Thanks for the compliment, but I don't see myself as being Devine yet.

Just got back, it went suprisingly okay, the fuser fixed the functionality part of it, but I think the parts you mentioned are 10+ years old, so I went ahead and ordered them and I'm going to install them tomarrow.

Also- theres this weird humming noise that comes from those little feeder bars that are right near the openning where the paper comes out, ever had that happen? It's not horrible, but it's there...
