We have just purchased the LJ 4250tn printer. I have installed and set up the printer on a single workstation. I have removed all the protective packaging and and internal protective items and restraints.
When we try and print from tray 3 and error appears that says 'error-Jam in tray 3'
I have checked tray three and there is not a jam, I can see no paper. It does not look like the printer is even picking up the paper that is in tray three.
I have tried tray three with a full load of paper, Half load of paper and only 10 sheets of paper. Each time I try and print from tray three the error appears. The paper type is selcted as A4 Plain. The 'standard/custom' selector is in the 'standard' position.
I have also swapped tray three over with another new HP LJ 4250tn tray but the same error has appeared.

Most likely it's the Paper PCB. Are you using two 500 sheet trays, and\or a 1500 sheet tray? Are they all seen in the driver? Check the solonoid flapper, it may have been bounced off in shipping. Try a paper path test also.

Hi, It turns out that the roller feeder on tray three was faulty, HP have now replaced tray three and the printer works fine :)

Could have been simple as a misalignment of the pickup rollers in tray 3, it could have been a simple problem, i guess hp will fix the problem and resell it as a refurbished unit.

could been a PCB problem but they are rare, in your case one in a billion.

Comments:
i dont like people who just want the easy way out, its best to troubleshoot the problem first, and isolate where the problem is coming from, i think it was the pickup rollers which there are 4 of them somehow its shaft has popped out, unless the PCA in it was stuffed itself up or hp cocked the tray 3 up or a misalignment happend during shipping or transit to your address "customer's site" but in your case you needed too get it replaced due to PCA problem with tray 3, hp will repair it and resell it as refurbished.
