Have an 8 year old 6MP. Used very infrequently. Only on 2nd toner cartridge. Last week noticed paper didn't exit properly - crumpled up, black sticky stuff on paper. Looked at fuser delivery roller and all three of the black rubber rollers have deteriorated and are kind of a gooey ball. Paper was sticking on rollers.

I will order a new roller. Haven't seen any other visible signs of anything being bad, but haven't removed any parts. Only looked at what is easily visible in various sections of printer.

What is normal cause of this problem. Old age of rubber, fuser too hot (sensor dirty?) or what? If sensor is dirty, is it easily accessible?

I live overseas and will order the parts from U.S. and have someone bring to me. This is a 220V unit.

For a printer this old, with very little useage, any other parts I should think about ordering just in case? Thanks for any help. The printer has been very dependable otherwise.

this is a common problem on a lj 6p. just replave the roller (order like 2-3 so that you have extra) good luck

replace the fuser unit or if your in some adventure replace the fuser flim you might be into alot of cleaning and regreasing.

but your best bet is ask printertechs.com for a new fuser, to replace your otherone.

samething happend to my 4050 printer expect it was on one side.

I am having the exact same problem is this a difficult procedure to replace this part. I am quite capable usually in fixing things but are there pitfalls I should be aware of. I am not a printer tech but would like to keep a nice printer working rather than have it fill some land fill.
