Hello everyone!

This is regarding a used Laserjet 4. No imprint image is coming out of the print doing tests. I thought toner is empty. I tried similar tests on HP 5 (they use the same type of toner) but everything works fine.

The printer was working before this problem occured. I didn't notice when this thing started thinking the toner has just finished or emptied.

Hope anyone out here can tell me what is causing the printed page without the image on it.

Thanks,
Armar

try the half-self test. print a test page and when the paper is half way through the printer open the top cover and remove the toner cart. look at the paper and see if the image is on it( prob not), then look at the drum on the toner cart and see if it is there. if image is on drum then you have some type of xfer prob. check the xfer roller. if image is not there then you have something wrong with the image formation process.

It could be the latch that opens the shutter to the cartridge
it is usually on the left hand side inside the printer(could look like a metal lever) when the cartridge is seated all the way a lever will open the shutter if it is not moving correctly the shutter stays closed re: no image.
