odd noise from pickup trays

a customer has a lj 5000 that makes a whining noise when it comes on and when paper comes from tray 2 and tray 3 but not from tray 1 any ideas

Need a little more info! Where is the noise specifically, as the scanner can make a bit of a whine at start-up. If it is a "squeek" you may have worn rollers and sep pads. Check the strays rollers too.

i have changed the seperation pad and rollers. it is coming from above tray 2. i can pull the tray 2 out and the sound is coming from there.

I too suspect that its worn gears or rollers.

Is the duplex option installed on it?

the rollers are new along with the fuser and there is no duplexer

noise are hard to fix. try to detect where the noise is comming from.
