We're installed two new toner cartridges in two different HP LaserJet 1200 printers and they both beep one long beep the whole time they're printing. These aren't HP official toner cartridges, but they've always worked before. They print fine, but the constant singular beep is extremely annoying. What should I be checking for?

Is it a beep or a squeel?
If it is a beeping noise then it is an issue with the printer, and I am not aware of a extended beep error for the HP 1000 series or 1200 series printers.
A squeel could be part of the remanufacturing process. Some drums do not contain sound dampeners. When the PCR in the cartridge rolls on the aftermarket drum it reverberates and causes squeeling. Aftermarket PCRs are usually harder than OEM, and can cause further noise.
Ask your toner product supplier if this could be the cause, and whether or not they should switch the type of drum they are using, or change vendors.

L2000 sounds right on the money
We recycle carts here and found we had the same issue with the drums we were using, so we changed vendors and no more issues.
Sounds like your supplier is not testing his carts because if he was he would hear that noise and would not sell them to you.

I would never trust aftermarket parts on laser printers because it does more harm than good.
I am totally OEM with printer parts, I never use aftermarket parts unless they are 99% close to the OEM quality.
I had problems in the past with aftermarket toners, I have a vendor that sells top quailty aftermarket toners, in 2003 I purchased a 98A toner that was aftermarket however the toner started to create a grey mark down the page and I told the supplier to test it and they found nothing wrong with it and just blamed the fuser assembly, asked me to pay them $9 for freight to send it back to me and I used it again and it was alright till 20 or so pages more.
I complained again and again and it took me 1 month of negotiation to have my money refunded this was thorugh a test with a series of blocks across the page to check if there was any discoloration in the black block and there was, he asked me to never deal with him again and I never have since then.
My opinion on your case is to negotiate with the vendor ask for a replacement or repair if they refuse too see the cosumer affairs or whatever its called in your area.
