HP Laserjet 2200D not picking up paper.

We have an HP LaserJet 2200D that has been working great but the other day while it was printing there was a gear grinding sound. Now it will not pick up paper from Tray 1 or Tray 2. I can see that it is not turning the pickup roller on either tray. I have taken the printer apart to see if I could find any broken parts but did not find anything. If you turn the printer on everything seems to work and the printer light goes green. When you I try to print a self test I can hear the motors come on and the wheels on the out put start turning but the pickup rollers are never engaged. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the pickup roller drive gears may be out of alignment, there is a tension spring that stretches from the solenoid to the pickup roller drive gear shaft (1 for each tray) which may have come loose. Or, there may be a problem with both soleniods not firing, generally we check the plug and make sure the solenoids operate freely. Both of these possibilities involve a decent amount of disassembly/trouble-shooting. You can ship us a printer for repair if you need.
