Replaced both the fuser and toner with OEM parts. New transfer roller as well.
From my experience (although I have never had to replace one of these yet) it points to the HVPS.
Since this specific defect is not repetitive, that's why I am choosing this avenue. If any of you other printer techs out there have seen this and your solution was different, let me know.
As you can see the banding is accompanied by some offset ghosting. It has taken anywhere from 15 -100 test prints for this defect to manifest itself.
This is my first posting here, hopefully I followed the rules and my attachment is ok.

You could also check the copper "leaf spring" / grounding tab which sits underneath the left side of the transfer roller. Sometimes that gets knocked out of place and causes weird issues... because it takes a certain amount of pages for this image to occur, it seems likely that is a grounding issue with the problem building up over pages. HVPS is also a possibility.

I will definitely check out that spring first. I was able to get a super deal on a refurb HVPS anyway at $50, but I'll have a look at your suggestion first. Would save me the tear down...
