Canon MF5550 is the device, a laser\fax\scanner\copier combo device. I'm trying to use it with a dlink dp-301u usb print server. The problem is that the green connection led on the front of the print server never lights up indicating a USB connection. The print server's web management page also indicates no connection. And finally, i can't print anything. I've tried various USB cables to no avail. I even had another print server, the exact same model, which i substitued with the exact same results.

Dlink's technical support said the print server wasn't compatible with such an All-in-one device, which I believe may be possible. But I'm hoping you all can help me confirm this. Thanks!

Most of the muli-function units don't work well through external print servers as the software wasn't written for that purpose. They are generally intended to connect directly to one PC, not networked. The networkable units tend to cost alot more.
