View Full Version : LJ 4000 won't pull paper from 2 or 3
The paper pickup will not turn when printing from either drawer. Coupler is good. Is there a clutch or solenoid that engaes the d shaped pickup rollers?

Will it print from tray one? There is a solonoid, SL101, that puts the "D" roller in motion to pick up from the tray. The first thing that I check is the short shaft that connects the transmission to the "D" roller assembly. This is designed to break easily in case some ID10T puts way too much paper in the tray so the transmission will not be damaged. Did this issue crop up suddenly or has it been intermittent for a while? These printers are about $100 delivered to your house so it is not a good idea to put too much guess work into buying parts in the hope that will fix the problem. Are there any errors displayed on the panel? If tray one will print try printing an error list and checking it with the book. You can download a copy of the book free on the Internet. These are really great printers, I have two of them at home. Another silent problem with these is the paper comes up from tray 1 & 2 vertically then turns toward the back of the printer and goes into the print station. Very rarely you will get a jam here. The paper is all wadded up about the size of a pencil and cannot be seen until you take some things apart. Not difficult, just tedious. I have not seen this in a while but I vaguely recall that it would not print from tray 2 or 3 when this happened. But I am getting old so I could easily be wrong.
