QMS Magicolor 2+ Color Laser Printer

Exhibiting print qual probs. B&W or color, intensity decreases starting 1/3 page from left margin, moving to the right. OPC belt, toner cart's, have been replaced to no avail. Only prob that I see is that the drum cleaner (right hand clip) is loose due to a bent clip. Does anyone out there have any experience with these printers?

Does the cleaner still contact the drum? If not you will get ghosting (image faintly repeating). It's possible also that the laser glass/ mirrors need cleaning (major dismantling to clean properly). Try opening the door midway through a print and check the image on the transfer belt to see if it's even. If it is, then the laser is OK.

Sounds like problem with laser unit polygon mirror. Gets dirty on one side while spinning and doesn't let light reflect properly. Disassemble and clean with a soft cloth and alcohol. Not an easy job but can be accomplished with some effort.
