Dark smudges along edge of printouts

all printouts from my LaserJet 4mplus have dark smudges along the right side of the page. I have cleaned the printer inside and out, new toner cartridge, etc. Does the fuser assy need replacement?

Trying to keep my old workhorse going. 436K pgs and counting.

Pull out the fuser. Look at the edge of it. The film is probably damaged.
