I have an HP 5p that has worked well for eons, but now when I print, the motors start humming as though it's working, but the mechanism never feeds the paper from the tray, and eventually everything stops and all the lights come on, telling me something awful has occurred. What could be the cause of this malfunction? Is this something I could fix myself, if I got hold of the right manual?
When all of the lights come on, push down on the front button - I'm willing to bet that only the top "lightning bolt" light remains lit. If this indeed is the case, you have a bad fuser and it will need to be replaced. The procedure for this is located in the service manual. Unfortunately, we do not offer the maintenance kit instuctions on our site, as the difficulty and length of the tear-down we feel is too extensive to create on-line. Hope this helps, Jim
