This older printer flashes "12 OPEN or no EP". The printer is attached to an older PC using Word Perfect. The book says either a part is not in or the door is not closed. Both have been checked and rechecked. Otherwize, the book says, it needs service. I can not find anyone to tell me where to take or send this printer for service. Is there such a Service Center? or, should I just scrap this printer. Through the years it has been very good. It is about 20 years old. Contacct me at edsol@afcmortgage.com
Thanks.

This usually is a problem with the Density control Board.
HP Part #RG1-1604-000CN Ive founf that they no longer carry this but a search of google should bring up a few retailers that could still sell it. Not to hard to replace at all. Good lu7ck

There is a 10 microfarad @ 50VDC capacitor on the density board that causes this fault. Change it and the problem is solved. You should be able to get one at Radio Shack.
