Hello all and thanks in advance for the help. I have 6 of these 9050 with the tray 4 2000 sheet trays, they all have been running fine until the other day when one 9050 would keep jamming at the feeder (2000 Sheet Paper Pickup Assembly) in tray 4 same place every time . So I thought it was the motor so to test my theory I took a motor out of another 9050 tray 4 that was was working fine and put it into the broken 9050 tray and now that one will not work. All I hear is a click click when the motor tries to turn on. Now I have two 2000 trays down I'm scared to try another motor from another 9050. I did the dip switch motor test and the motors will not come on it just click clicks as if it wants to start, but I don't understand when I put another motor from another printer now it doesn't work. Please help me understand.

You could try putting the motor from the good unit back into the good unit and see if it works. If it does then you probably have an electronic problem. Track the wires back to the printed circuit board. Try going to Google to search the problem.

There's the off-chance the printer shorted out your replacement motor, it's just not likely. I agree with Al, to be safe I wouldn't try another motor, I would first put the good motor back on the good unit and re-test to confirm the motor still works. If it doesn't work, then either the motor is not installed correctly or there's some kind of short that killed the new motor.
However, regarding the original problem --> it sounded to me like you were saying the original problem was the paper moved a bit and then physically jammed somewhere in the tray, in the same place every time. If that is true then I would doubt it's the motor failing because generally when the motor goes bad they just won't turn at all and paper won't move.
BTW What paper jam error code were you getting? For 13.11.10 there is a sensor that sometimes is knocked out of place and it will give you a constant paper jam message.
For most paper jams, when the paper actually gets picked up and moves slightly but gets stuck early in the path, the most common problem are worn feed/separation rollers. Did you replace any rollers?
Other than worn rollers, you might look for some physical obstruction like broken plastic or foreign objects/ gummy substances sitting in the paper path.

Why didn't I think of that, I will try it in the morning. Thanks

Its the motor in Vertical Transfer Unit (VTU) that will not feed the paper. I didn't just replace the motor I took the whole VTU from a good printer to the bad printer with the same result, tomorrow I will try AI idea. (Procedure) All I do is unscrew four screw that hold the vtu and unplug the motors from the board and then swap. The paper always jams in the vtu not in the paper tray. Yea I checked the sensor all is good I would bet my life on the vtu motor I just don't know why or how a good vtu that works in one printer a second ago doesn't work in the other printer of the same model. I will let you guys know tomorrow and thanks for the response.

What's the error code you are seeing on-screen?
So you have 3 different VTU's that are not working -- I'm not sure where the 3rd one came into play. BigAl was suggesting you put the 2nd VTU back into the 2nd base you borrowed it from and test. Did you try that?

Yes i put the vtu back into the printer base it came from and now that one does the same thing as the other vtu. Error code is 13.11.08 (jam in input accessory) the motor clicks when it should actually be turning.
