When trying to duplex, the first cycle prints the first side, but paper stops in the duplexer before proceeding to the transfer roller for printing the back side..?

Try giving it a good blast of compressed air, you may have dust or a paper shard in a sensor.

Assuming general cleaning doesn't help... If you have a spare duplexer around from another machine, I'd swap that in as well and see if the problem disappears. You may need another duplexer . . . we have them at PrinterTechs if needed 866-352-7108.

The HP 4000 series use a duplexer that can easily be removed. Turn the printer off and slide it right out the back.
I do a lot of duplex printing at home and had to replace one. They are readily available, used; "rebuilt" which may
mean they stuck it in a printer and it seemed to work OK or they may have replaced the rubber rollers; you may
be able to find a new one. The one I bought from Printer Techs has been working very well.
