Hi

I have a 2 year old cp3525n, that has printed less than 200 pages, It came up with RFU on the lcd display panel, I tried the hp easy RFU update but it still kept showing up, I then did the stupid part and found a link saying hold in the x button and then press ok & menu while its counting the memory and got into a menu of sorts, but the instructions there did not cure things.

One of the options was to write ????? to nvram i think, and i tried that, (Silly mistake) but assumed it would clear the memory and accept the update.

Now i have a printer with a blank lcd display that does not count memory or show rfu errors
and no ready, data, or attention lights lit ever, although you hear all the motors running as if it was starting up

what do i try now, i seen another post saying that they cured the RFU fault by changing the card(formatter) has the usb/network interface card gone faulty, its not a cheap part to buy
or is there a way to unscramble my mistake, what's the usb connection on the pcb for?? can it be programmed outside the printer, or do i need to unsolder the battery on the card to get it to forget all the settings?

Thanks in advance.

There is a proceedure on the HP web site on how to reloade the firmware with a USB connection but it is very involved. This is an end-of-life product and they are now being sold new on Internet sites for about $550. Maybe keep this in mind before you spend a lot of money shotgunning parts into it. If you really need this printer and have extra toner on hand invested in it then you have some decisions to make. Another way would be to buy a used one and use the old one for parts.
