Our 1 year old hp color laser jet 4600dn printer leaves pink (magenta) streaks all over the back of printed documents. We've experienced this before and thought perhaps it was due to incorrect installation or a faulty cartridge. But now, I'm wondering if it's a printer problem, or are we just getting multiple bad cartridges. I've tried cleaning and reinserting the cartrigde, with no success. I cannot detect anything wrong with the cartridge itself, but I'm not a tech. Has anyone else had this problem?

On an HP 4600, where there is a print quality problem which occurs with only one colour, then the first step is always to change the toner cartridge, and usually you will find this solves the problem.

If it has worked fine since the toner cartridge was last changed, then it probably has been installed correctly, and has simply failed. This can be due to the toner being almost empty, or developing a fault.

The magenta toners for this printer and the 4500 series are far more likely to leak than the others, I have no idea why, but it seems to be the case.
