color Laserjet 2820 only prints yellow

Hi Folks, I have a 2820 on the bench that only prints in yellow. Cartridges and drum all report 50% life or more. Cleaning and resets have been done as well as checking carousel alignment. Whats next?

If the print looks good from the maintenance panel tests then you probably have a formatter problem. The formatter takes the data stream from the computer and makes a dot picture then passes the dots onto the proper laser. Try reseating the formatter and the memory DIMM if it has one. Download a service manual from the Internet, Google will point you to a free download. You can also tell the firmware to ignore the toner cartridge placement, shuffle the cartridges and see what you get. Sometimes the users get frustrated and bang the cartridges around and break little components that allow the cartridge to do its job.
