customer replaced cartridge w/oem still has replace cartridge message. anything to look for besides a defective cartridge?

In the area where the cartridge is loaded into place are some small silver contacts that mate with the toner cartridge.
Make sure all of these are clean and are not damaged. Look at the cartridge and you should see where the coresponding
contacts will be in the printer. You should be able to download a free copy of the service manual, look on google.
