How to fix a part that came out of a HP Laserjet 4 Plus

I have a Laserjet 4 Plus that had a paper jam. While removing the jam a wide plastic piece came out and I don't know how to put it back in and the printer won't print without it. The piece is about 9 inches long and 1 1/4 inch wide and a notch on the left side.

Do a Google search and find the service manual for the HP 4. Download it and that should identify the part in question.
