Brother HL-5250DN electrical odor

I have a Brother HL-5250DN laser printer which has started to produce an odor typical of overheated electronic components. It produces this odor at all times when it is turned on, even in it's standby mode. Otherwise it is operating properly. Since this odor is produced even when it is not printing and has been idle for hours, I suspect the power supply board. I intend to disassemble the printer and inspect the board(s), but I would appreciate any advice regarding this problem.
I have located several suppliers for the power supply board online, however I am not sure if they are genuine parts. I would appreciate any information on purchasing the correct parts. Thank you
