Got an HP LJ 5000gn series printer that will not go into service mode using the Select + Cancel Jobs button held down while powering unit up? The unit control panel will go blank and stay there with all lights on and the Attention light red. Hitting Menu button will send unit into initialization and Ready mode.
Thanks,
RayD

There's more to it than just those two buttons. It's similar to a 4000 or 4100. After you hold those buttons in and the three lights come on, I believe it's press the menu button to the right once and then press the select button. Could do it if the printer was in front of me, but off the top of my head I'm not 100% positive that that's correct.

From the book:-

To enter Service Mode:
1 Hold down [Select] and [Cancel Job] while turning on the printer.
(If the control panel reads INITIALIZING, the keys were released
too soon.)
2 Press the right side of the [Menu] key, then press [Select]. The
message
SERVICE MODE
is displayed. To exit the Service Mode
press [Go].
