Ok I have 1 4200n and a 4250 in the shop, even though both printers are set to draw paper from drawer 2, I will get a message that tells me to press the check button to manualy feed the paper the the rest of the printing goes OK. What do I need to do to just make it take the paper from drawer two?

Well there are a few things you can check. In the bottom back of the tray, be sure the slider is pointing at LTR, sometimes it gets pushed back a little bit the printer doesnt think it is letter and it will go to tray 1. Also check the right hand side of the tray where there is a little blue lever and make sure it's not set to custom. Other than that, check your paper handling menu to see if tray 2 is set to soemthing other than plain/letter

Thanks, I am not sure I checked the tray, the menu having that set right I did but I will go back and check, its not a big problem after all all you have to do is hit the check button after you ask for print, but it is annoying.

Thanks

sounds like one of the guides is not locked in. set it for a4 then return to letter. after putting the tray back in, manually set the tray to letter. this should fix it

Make sure the manual feed tray is turned off in the menu settings, this will cause the problem you are having

Set the paper type for tray 2 to "ANY".
