I recently acquired a 4200n that was consistently jamming and when it did print, it woudl smear the left side of the print. I figured it might need a cleaning, but when taking it apart, noticed that one of the blue lever-clips (left one from the rear) that hold the fuser into the printer body was broken. This explains the jams and smearing I think.

Are there any other options short of replacing the fuser? If I'm going this route, does it make sense to do a complete maintenance kit, including rollers. I dont' think the printer has that much use on it so far.

Thanks for any input.

I have seen this happen before, sadly the part wasn't available sepperate.
Getting a complete maintenance kit to replace it would depend on the amount of pages printed and if the rollers need replacing.

This is a known problem with the 4200 fuser and there was supposed to be a "manufacturing countermeasure" to beaf up the strength of that clip in the new 4200 fusers. Have you tried superglue on the clip? It shouldn't hurt to try.
