Hi,
I'm using a HP color Laserjet 2605dn. My problem is that the magenta is not printing properly. It prints very light and the darkness varies across the page. This problem has continued even after installing a new cartridge.

How can I resolve this?

Thanks,
delphine

This is quite common with the 2605. The Magenta is the lowest in the optical unit and seems to suffer most with dust / toner building up on it's mirrors, hence the gradual fading of this colour. It can happen with others but it mostly affects magenta. A good test is the HP test page which (should be ) a red monkey. So many look yellow as the magenta content is missing or weak. The only way to solve it is removal of the back panel, the 2 circuit boards and finally remove the optical unit and open it up to clean the optics. It will take about 2 hours and, at least intially, will be quite fiddly. Once this is done though, it's usually worth it as it's like getting a new printer.
