View Full Version : LaserJet Pro M1212nf broken Fimware

Hi,

i need some help with my printer HP Laserjet Pro. M1212nf MFP that i bought some weeks before. My english is not the best and i want to say sorry for this. But i hope you will understand me.

I had some problems with the FAX Unit while sending faxes. On the HP Website and Support Center they say i have to upgrade the firmware as first before i try other things. I was downloaded a upgrade file...............

LJM1130_M1212_FW_Update.exe

Then i tried to flash the Firmware. At the beginnig of this it seems to be work well but later the update fails and i get a message like:

something and then ".............Power cycle and try again."

I do so but the printer dont work anymore. There is also nothing to read at the Frontpanel Display and the 3 LED at the front are lighting. (no blinking)

When i try to start the update again i get a new Message that tell me:

HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP: Could not find appropriate firmware file.

I dont see anything on the Display and i dont have HP Smart Install anymore.



Please can me help someone? What can i do? What is broken? Firmware? Is there any solution to fix the problem?

Is this a new machine? Is it still under warranty?

Yes it is.

I bought this machine 3 week ago at amazon. But i think they will be make troubles about the warranty because i tried to flash the firmware. I hopes thats there gives a faster solution for me to fix the problem before i send the printer back to amazon or to the HP Repair Service.

Something like Hardware reset or anything else?

If there is no way for me to fix the problem on a faster way then i will send the printer back or send it to the HP Repair Center. :-(

Is there something i can try before?

I cannot think of anything. We have that problem here. On the older machines that had a Centronix port you could download the firmware and push it across the printer cable. With the newer machines that only have a USB port it seems like there is no way to recover this situation. HP does not admit this. If the machine is under warranty send it back to them. It was probably a bad idea to do the update if you had a FAX problem. That is a default answer to get you off the phone.

This is the german Website for Troubleshooting and the first thing and first Solution to fix Problems with the FAX Unit is to update the Firmware.

Before i had only a FAX Problem! But now and after that HP Solution i have a broken Printer! :mad:

I have called the HP Repair Service and they will send a new printer. :)

Cold Reset for the HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP :

1. Power down
2. press <shift right> and <cancel> Button together
3. Power up during pressing these Buttons
