Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with a color laserjet 3800 giving a 49.4c02 error. I have updated to the latest firmware, reseated the formatter and I still have the same issue. Is this a bad formatter board?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated! Thank you everyone and have a great day!

The 49.xxxxx usually means a communication issue between the printer and the computer. How is this one hooked up, USB or RJ-45 Ethernet? Is there more than one computer that prints to it over the net? Do they all fail? This can also be caused by a corrupted driver in the computer or the print server.
Try reseating the formatter three times then try it. If it still fails pull the formatter and reseat everything on it: memory DIMM, the chip that holds the printer firmware (about two inches square, sticks up off the board in a socket). Then try it again. Wear a static strap if the humidity is below 40% and work on board on a static bag with the strap clipped to the bag. If all else fails you may need a formatter. We have had some success heating the processor chip to resolder the ball-grid array on the bottom of the chip.

Thanks for the help Al. I have reseated all the components on the formatter to no avail. I have sent a quote for replaceing the formatter to the client.
Have a great day!
